Kurt Godwin's Climbing Page

I'm 41 years old, and have been climbing for about 5 years.  The first 2 years I climbed a few times a year, then in 2002, I started climbing in earnest.  I'm not in the best shape for climbing, so I have been working on getting out more (away from my desk job) and hiking and climbing.

I love the outdoors, and have been exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, and other areas around the park.

Here is a log of climbs I have done:

Lumpy	Chrome Plated	5.6	2000	First multi pitch climb.  I was very scared, but the climbing was easy.	Second
Lumpy	Melvin's Wheel	5.8+	2001	Second multi-pitch climb.  It was challenging, but I made it all the way through this one.  I think I will make it a goal in 2003 to lead this route.	Second
Lumpy	Femp	5.9	2002	Very hard for me, and I had to aid (ashamed to admit it) the crux	Second
Combat Rock	Rambo Santa	5.7	2002	Easy climb, and great fun.  I have done this route three times, and want to lead it in 2003	Second
Lumpy	Batman and Robin	5.6	2002	My first lead (first pitch) ever.  It was scary at first (because of lack of protection, I'm sure this is due to my poor placement skills.  Fun none the less, and a great rap off the other side.  I did not like the standard decent (2 raps down a loose chute).	Lead 1st pitch
Combat Rock	Tree Roof	5.8	2002	I have trouble getting over it, but made it once (out of many tries).  I will keep working on this one until it is easy.	Top-rope
Combat Rock	Top-rope area	5.6+	2002	Solo-top roped this one with a Grigri and backup knots.  Good practice	Top-rope
Combat Rock	unknown	5.9	2003	Fell on the first pitch while trying to aid the crux.  Banged up my elbow, and felt sick, so Brad lowered me and continued with Vincent on the 2nd pitch.  I want to go back and work on this route in the summer.  Still not a 5.9 climber...  I was following another second, and he pulled most of the directionals on his way up.
